How can I find the middle angle vector between two vectors of unequal length using as few normalisation operations as possible?

So apparently it's possible to do with one less normalisation:

$<br />b = sqrt(0.5 / (dot(v2,v2) + dot(v2,v2)/dot(v1,v1) * dot(v1,v2)))<br />a = b * sqrt(dot(v2,v2)/dot(v1,v1))<br />u = a * v1 + b * v2<br />$

What do you mean middle vector? Is that the vector who points from the intersection of the two vectors to the mid point of the tips or are you looking to bisected the angle or are you looking to have the vector sum of the two represented by the middle vector or what?

If by middle vector you mean bisector vector, the formula is ||u|| v + ||v|| u (given vectors u and v)

Why are you averaging two normalised vectors? Just take the average and then normalize. In fact, averaging two normalised vectors will not give you a unit vector.
