How hard would it be to make a mold or yeast that produces the very expensive and difficult to obtain in high quality and illegal drug ? Has it in fact been done? Would it be possible to have a jar that continuously produces it, or make batches using a bit of the previous culture without great hassle? Am I underestimating the hassle of purifying it or even just overestimating the sheer concentration of yeast products in medicine production when compared to current methods involving growing plants?
This is not a project, I have zero interest in consuming illegal drugs or illegal trade. I am just curious since it seems like an obvious application for GMOs now that it has become more accessible.
