So i've been watching the following vid:

I don't know much about physics but i find this very interesting.
There is the point he's saying its impossible to prove whether the travel speed of the speed of light in one direction is equal to the travel speed in the opposite direction and at 11:40 he gives the mars-earth example, however, when he gets to the point at the below photo, i don't understand why is that not a prove on its own. see if the time in earth is 12:20 and on mars its 12:100, and the travel speed from mars to earth is instant, the mars man can simply send a message: "time in mars: 12:10" which will get to earth instantly and since the time in earth is 12:20, earth people now know that there are time differences and so figure that travel time isn't equal.

So, what don't i understand here that makes this make sense?
