If you think about "smart" animals like crows, raccoons, and others, they all have this in common. Crows can use small rocks to break things, they collect things. Raccoons can use doors, pick locks, etc. A "dumb" animal simply uses their legs and jaws to hunt, while "smart" animals use other things to compensate for things they do not have naturally.
