Coincidences don't occur naturally. I'm fairly certain the ayys stopped it's rotation so they would have a safe place to hide (i.e. the dark side of the moon).

Nah I think eventually all orbiting bodies become tidally locked, it just takes longer the bigger the objects are and the farther they are apart.

tidal locking is when a body orbiting another body, like a moon around a planet, develops a rotation about its axis that has the same period as its orbit. This is not uncommon because of gravity and the fact moons aren't perfectly rigid things.

I liked that theory where some celestial body collided with the Earth and ripped a chunk of it out that became the moon.

No.
For us to ask this question ther has to be life on Earth. To be life here we need a moon to knead the crust of the planet. And to do that we need a massive (but not too large) moon. And in this scenario, it will be so close it will be tidally locked.

Earth slows the moons rotation around it's own axis and as such only one side of the moon will be shown to earth when the orbits "stabilizes".
Earth might be locked to the sun if we wait long enough and hope the sun does't go BOOOOOOM.

The side of the moon facing the earth has more mass than the side facing away so it gets pulled towards us harder, if it did spin way back in the day you can imagine it getting slower and slower every time the heavy side faced earth until it stopped

nasa made a big deal about getting pictures of the other side, but there wasn't anything of particular interest over there, you never even see ppl post any of the pics.

Oh? The far side is full of craters and has very few mare. The morphology is clearly different.

If he couldn't phrase it correctly you know he couldn't think clearly. And since the moon receedes from the earth, slowly but surely, the angular size of the moon will decrease and thus even comparing the angular sizes will be garbage.

And he never explained how that could be necessary for the formation of live. Given that life formed hundreds of millions of years ago, the angular size of the moon was much greater. Yet here we are, life is all around us.
