if there was an event without any preceding events in the universe, it certainly was not caused by the former. either it was a cause of randomness, or there exists a fundamentally different form of cause, something we can't quiet comprehend yet.
it's also easily possible that the way we currently interpret 'randomness', at least at quantum level, is entirely off.
