What's /sci/'s consensus on linguistics? I understand it's an interdisciplinary field, encompassing formal sciences, humanities and social sciences. I personally am very fond of morphosyntax, phonology, and historical linguistics.

Pretty bas and a lot of it is basically a subfield of CS. I think a lot of work in generative grammar is bullshit, however, and due for a Kuhnian style paradigm shift and overhaul.

Btw I'm in a math MS program because I was rejected from the linguistics phd that i applied to.

Seems like a mine field if you don't at every minute declare that every human languages are exactly homomorphic. The languages were more primitive though not long ago and they evolve all the time. But at this moment, today, they are absolutely equal to each other.
