Dominant is selected for during recombination.
Recessive is selected for by the environment.
Dominant can continue existing due to it's preference during recombination. For recessive to continuing existing it needs to be actively selected for by the environment. For dominant to stop existing, it needs to be selected against by the environment. For recessive to stop existing it needs to produce a genetic advantage less than that of it's disadvantage during combination.
If you have a recessive gene and you know nothing about it, by default it must be better than a dominate gene you know nothing about.
For example,
5 figures (digits) is recessive to 6 fingers.
Baldness is mostly a dominant gene.
Normal eyesight (not blurry vision) is a recessive gene
Being normal height (no dwarfism) is mainly a recessive gene
Normal hearing (not tone deaf) is a recessive gene
Having low body hair is a recessive gene
Blue eyes is a recessive gene
