it'll largely be empty by the time it's on the ground (compared to when it's at full propellant) so it'll be light and the falcon style leg design is very stronk

Why would it fall over? by the time starship is set to land on the moon, the entire surface topography of the moon would have been mapped, making it easy to find relatively flat surfaces to land on.

Is that something SpaceX is doing or is there a different mission that's going to do that? Since the surface doesn't change much, such a scan should be accurate for quite a while.

It has already been done. Nasa has multiple lunar orbiters that have mapped it with radar.

God, everyone on this board outside of /sfg/ doesn't know fuck all about space exploration. They think billions of dollars are committed based on powerpoint slides and hype. Actual engineering goes into these concepts.

It falls over all the time. In the latest flight test the rocket was able to land and stand upright on the ground, but still exploded in the end. People still pay millions of bucks to book a seat in this thing unironically.
