It's not about the length. Your job is to report on original research. There is no standard protocol. Some people have 30 pages, some have 300, but it says nothing about quality.

My PI told me I have to write 3 pages (1 intro, 2 conclusions) and then I can just staple in my published work, still working on the postdoc aspect

My physics dissertation was ~50 pages. Length doesn't matter, content matters. 10 pages of good data and well-constructed arguments are better than 100 pages of padding and fluff... or worse - uninteresting and unoriginal research.
