>>13017112If it's possible to fully understand consciousness, which we don't yet, then it's possible. The real question is why would we build one? Well there's lots of pros, but mostly cons. The biggest con is that we will lose humanity.
Given everything goes perfectly, and AI doesn't kill us all, governments don't use it as a tool to control people, etc. Eventually we will merge with AI, mostly out of necessity. At first it will be great for many of us because we'll become immortal, and able to do anything we want, but over time we'll all reach the same conclusion after experiencing everything. We'll all be the same thing. There will be no humanity, or individuality, and no reason for it to exist either. There won't be any problems left to solve because we'll have solved them. There won't be anywhere, or any idea left to explore because we'll have explored it. We won't have purpose. All that would be left to do is to go back to our origins; recreate the universe, and strip yourself of all your knowledge so that you could experience it all over again, knowing life to be the journey, not the result. That, or death.
So instead of speeding up this process, it's objectively better to enjoy where you are now, for what it is now.
