Stargates are kind of ill defined, but they are more like a teleporter rather than a portal. They tend to like to transport entire objects in one.

Yes, the gate only sends you through after you are fully emerged in the event horizon. This is a safety feature that prevents you from splitting in several pieces or compression due to momemtum changes.

What the event horizon is engineered in such a way that the object can start being curved along the wormhole, but never reach the other side until the momentum completely carries the entire object through. Your body stays in near cartesian locally "flat" space and when you start entering the curved wormhole you bend along the curved space through the wormhole up towards the gate on the other side and only when you fully enter does the geometry become resolved for you to pop through.

No - Stargates don't work like Portals - they're more like long-distance Transporters. The Stargate converts the traveler into data, transmits the data through the wormhole, and reassembles the data back into the traveler on the other side. Travelers cannot be partially transmitted - it only makes the conversion once something completely crosses the event horizon and it will not shut off if something is only partway through unless the 38 minute window is reached or something forcibly cuts off power to the gate.

Aside from what everyone else said, gates are one-way and everything coming the wrong way is annihilated. So your bits would be vaporized the moment you thrusted the other way even if gates acted like portals.

How does the gate know when the entire thing has crossed the event horizon? Like, what if someone goes through with an artificial heart valve?

When will the producers release all the "Event Horizon" deleted scenes?

The movie without the gruesome bits is just a B-tier sci-fi.

The short horror orgy scenes' clips were Kino.

But there were 1/2 an hour of pure gore deleted scenes that were lost in editing.
