What do I need to study in order to build my own little rocket that I can shoot into space? Are there any resources on this?

Create a tube that holds propellent that can be lit in an engine to produce thrust that's higher than the weight of the entire system. The have a guidance system that controls the trajectory of the rocket to fly straight.

There was a group that came close in 2004. They got up to 100km (160km is minimum for LEO). But they also had corporate sponsorship and more money than they needed.
Building your own rocket capable of entering orbit is going to be next to impossible unless you're 1) independently wealthy and 2) friends with a rocket scientist or two.

$100m and you have to be the smartest person in your state and have couple dozen other smarter people working nonstop for 6 years. Musk did this.

Jeff bezos has spent 6-10+ billion into his rocket company, 20 years later they still can't make a rocket that can get to orbit. And still won't for another 2-3+ years at least.

You need big brains and not be bald

to go into orbit speed is a bigger constraint than height. Ideally you would want a cannon to shoot a rocket upwards first

100 km is space, but just going up to 160km would not put you in orbit, you need to be moving over 7 km/s sideways to stay up there

100km or the commonly agreed upon line for space is hard to get to just by yourself on your first try. I'lld suggest starting small model rockets with solid motors. I'lld also suggest reading the textbook Rocket propulsion elements by George Paul Sutton and Oscar Biblarz, it is quite expensive though.
