When the story initially came out, she "developed" and "created" the algorithm. Later on, when people were accurately calling out the news on it, they changed the story to "led the development" of the algorithm in question.
In other words, they tried to minimize the work of the team effort just so a woman could be seen as a science hero.
It's cool and all, and she may have contributed a lot or mostly to the effort. But it was still a team effort, nonetheless. And even some on the fucking team who helped develop it wanted to give all the credit to her.
