the catch is that that also means perpetual change, and hypothetical inevitability of loss of all similarity to (and memory of) the original form
but that's only a problem if we can claim to have known or decided upon the 'original form' in question, that we want to preserve, when really our identity and sense of self is much more fluid than to ever have some concrete thing such as that.
the effort to memorialize even through continual change is none the less still laudable if not fundamental, I think (plenty of examples, eg. the eastern temples that are burnt down and rebuilt, stories retold).
