bromic acid is the way to go bro

From what i've seen online, the only way to get a cis halogenation, would be to
>add H2 with Pd/C catalyst
this makes an alkene
>add Br2
this gives you the final product
Im not sure about the solvants for each

that reduces to the alkane, use lindlars catalyst instead, it makes the cis-alkene.
Then indeed Br2 because that makes the cis-dibromide.

Lindlar is poisoned Pd/C, usually with lead, barium or quinoline to reduce its activity to the point where it doesn't work on alkenes anymore
