how the fuck do i understand calculus? i need to complete some modelling classes for my uni course, but i don't understand it at all. i'm in the top 15 of all of my other classes (all also STEM classes) but i'm extremely close to failing basic mathematical modelling. i spend 8 hours a week neglecting my other classes and studing only mathematical modelling and i still fail it while i cruise through my other subjects.

Not OP but I don't get how you get an integral, the area under a function line, by just using the function that would be the derivative of the integral. So 2x would become x^2 and now you magically have the entire area under the curve at your fingertips.
I get the Riemann sum as being infinitesimally small lines filling the curve and making up the area. But how you can get that from the anti-derivative is just weird to me.
Is it because every dx on x^2, is equivalent to all the dx lines under 2x placed on top of each other? Since x^2 goes very high up very quickly and 2x is just like a 45 degree line or something.
Idk I passed calculus by just knowing how to do algebra and understanding what the formulas were finding but yeah, not fully understanding this always bothered me.

Start by guessing what the area under the curve should be for super simple exactions and progressively move up. Like it should make intuitive sense that the integral of 1 is x. Because the area under the curve y=1 is just the distance that you travel. Move on to more complicated functions. It will make sense if you try to use your intuition fir every problem before doing any math.
