>>12988421>If someone like a bezos or musk decided they wanted to be a 'supervillain', and dedicated all of their rescources to ending humanity, could they do it? Let's say this is you, and that is your goal. How would you do it? Could you keep a small number of your most loyal followers safe?Frankly it'd be a challenge on their time horizon, though MAYBE Musk might live long enough to pull it off. But basically you'd need to build a self-sustaining colony off world. Which will take a long time. Obviously have to staff/run it so its loyal, which is its own challenge. To be long term self-sustaining with current tech also need at least 50-100 thousand people to avoid too much inbreeding and be able to bootstrap a growing human population.
Part of this will probably need asteroid mining, and that's how you end the earth too. A nuclear saltwater rocket is plenty feasible a design and scalable, could build one of those on a big enough asteroid and direct it to hit Earth, stealth it a bit (black so it's not easily visible), maybe do some deniable DDOSing of early warning systems (even better, run the EWS yourself, you're the "space guy" after all). And that would be that. Regular moon-based kinetic bombardment can clean up any survivors.
Do it right and few may even know you did it. Then you can pose as a savior to survivors instead of having to clean them up.
