>>12988740>The fuck is "less deterministic reasoning"? You're teaching math, not African tribal dances.Using creativity instead of rote memorization. The entire criticism is that the book reinforces a "memorize how this one problem was done so you can pass your exam" paradigm. Since people tend to internalize information in different ways, good teaching allows students to figure out how things make sense in their minds, but going from "2 + 2 = 4" to busting out insanely complicated formal proofs doesn't let students internalize methods. They just smile, nod, and try to memorize formulae.
>What's his endgame? Does he want everyone to drop out of calculus courses expect the purest among the pure mathematicians? His main complaint is that instructors are too lazy to actually teach calculus. He wants instructors to create a course that teaches mathematics based on insight instead of memorizing formulae. The up-front cost to students is higher, but much more rewarding, and in the long run builds students better able to tackle more complex math (in his eyes)
>Fucking feminist manlet couldn't even use the more neutral "they". Non-binary queers will be PISSED at him.Take your meds. Using feminine pronouns for neuter is very, very old in English. The singular-they is much newer.
