>>12986055>science is just another form of religionScience makes careful note of observations and continually updates its theories. Religion denies observation in order to preserve belief.
>you will think that there are water canals on Mars until someone sends a probeCorrect, an observation was made (lines on Mars), a hypothesis was formed (water canals formed the lines on Mars), and a future observation refuted the hypothesis. This is not the “gotcha” you think it is.
>you will think that 1+1=2 until someone proves it's notMathematics and science are not quite the same in this context. Math proposes axioms and proves (argues logically) theorems from those axioms. Science doesn’t care what makes sense, only that it agrees with observation. 1+1=2 is only true in some contexts. Also, you don’t disprove a negative.
>don’t fool yourselvesIronic coming from the person who holds that their beliefs cannot be challenged
>faith is all we haveYou can have faith if you want to, there’s probably nothing I can say or do to convince you otherwise, but I can promise you faith isn’t going to do shit for you, me, or anybody. In the entire history of mankind, faith has not made one single contribution to the world. Every single step that was taken to get where we are today was made by people who decided “fuck it let’s try something and see what happens”.
