But if you go back to your own past, as it always was, I think you would probably fail in meeting yourself. Unlike killing your past self, it wouldn't be literally impossible, but self-consistent interactions with one's past self tend to be a bit implausible. Imagine for instance having a conversation with your future self - who would then when becoming the future self decide to repeat the conversation exactly as it happened, despite remembering it from the other end? It could happen, but more likely is that you'd simply fail to meet yourself.
