Yes and you're absolutely right to be fearful, which is why you should do what I suggested and have a person-to-person conversation with a campus official about your conscientious objection (here's a talking point for you: that phrase was originally used to refer to opting out of vaccination). If they say you should just take a gap year, make them clarify that you will be allowed to return to school a year later without the vaccination. I was asking what's the worst case scenario for trying to do this

They'll just make me take the vaccine before coming back to school after the gap year. The vax is inescapable. That's the worst-case scenario. I also can't even voice any hesitations I have about the vaccine without being ridiculed as a stupid anti-vaxxer.

Well in that case you can call them out on-the-spot for saying "just take a gap year" when you know it's a lie. You don't have to have this conversation in a public forum, although I encourage you to record it, so you shouldn't let fear of ridicule stop you. Your worst case scenario has nothing to do with your attempting to start a conversation about this. Stop being a pussy and just give it a try, like I said earlier the best case scenario is that you start a positive precedent. The fact that the only way to opt out is religious exemption is absolutely retarded -- "you can only object if it's based on superstitious nonsense" -- and your campus officials should acknowledge this.

From what I've read mRNA vaccines have been tested for a decade or so for diseases such as rabies. The mRNA "teaches" the cells in the body how to make proteins which triggers an immune response. I know my understanding is pretty shit as the last bio course I took was high school bio.

They sent out an email to every student explaining the reasons for vaccination. In essence, it would allow for the university to return to status quo if they had sufficient herd immunity.

Why can't you regret going to a college? It's not hard to get into Cornell; you just have to try a bit in high school. Also, I regret not just attending a state school and saving my parents the 75k/yr. Also, with how much you're paying, amenities such as laundry and gym access are not included. The whole institution is a scam.
