Spivak is very straight to the point with no hand holding. Apostol spends more time talking about what he's going to do, giving some motivation for the material, mentions a couple of applications and even incorporates material from other areas like linear algebra, diff eqs. and probability (in volume 2).
I'm not familiar with the books you mention but I'm sure reading either should be fine, just look at the exercises from other books to make sure you can solve them.
