Why? If it's so obvious and so trivially worse than what's currently used, why can't anyone give me a single example?
For the case of the derivative not being well-defined, it's only at a single point, and even then that singular point can have the derivative defined via the delta function which is integrable. As for taking the absolute value of an operator, this objection doesn't even make sense..please provide a concrete example for where this difficulty shows up in a statistical calculation, and please justify why it's nicer not to use absolute value.
