Christianity is very different from old testament Judaism, most of the values of the Church are not even developed in the Bible, but in later theological theses. The basic tenant of the new testament as well is that God cursed his chosen and they are no longer chosen. That is why the old testament is not emphasized in Christianity to begin with, but something often misunderstood is that the new testament isn't as important as later developments either.

Christianity is a fascinating religion that is a mixture ancient fertile cresent beliefs mixed with Hellenic, Roman and Germanic values. Most of the values we associate with Christianity is not in the Bible and any theologician will tell you that (such as the 7 deadly sins etc.) as it was developed in early Italian and Frankish universities in the first millenium.
