Let's say we get to a point where energy can be harnessed limitlessly and each individual can simulate their own entire universe. At this point we've also cured aging and are immortal. After experiencing all the euphoric possibilities countless times, would we get bored and want to start experiencing negative feelings just to have a new experience? For example, instead of being the leader of a civilization we would want to experience being a slave.
