>>12971262The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is considered the gold standard of IQ testing. It is a professional test used by psychologists, and has a lot of research and resources behind it, with good norms and a lot of data. It can not be taken online as it requires supervision by a psychologist specifically trained to administer the test.
Online IQ tests are generally bullshit, but there are some decent ones. The thing is that something like the
mensa.no practice test only tests "matrix reasoning". That is only one of up to 15 subtests on the WAIS, which will test your working memory, processing speed, and verbal ability, where you are asked to define words (not multiple choice, you have to actually define them), and even general knowledge questions. This means that something like the
mensa.no won't be a great representation of your overall cognitive profile, even though the different subtests usually have a high correlation. This is especially noticeable in neurodivergent people, who will much more commonly have a large discrepancy between different subtests.
On the topic of online IQ tests, the one that OP posted is complete bullshit, and
>>12965683 seems to be a combination of very easy and hard questions, so my guess would be that most individuals will score closer to the average than they should. The
mensa.no that I previously mentioned seems to be an adequate test for matrix reasoning, there are better ones online but it's good enough for a rough ballpark estimate. The important thing to remember is that it doesn't paint a complete picture, even if you get a low score on the
mensa.no test, you might score very highly on something that isn't matrix reasoning, or vice versa. Matrix reasoning tests are also one of the few common IQ tests that are somewhat susceptible to "the practice effect", i.e you can increase you score if you take many tests of that same kind, and your score will then no longer be an accurate representation of your ability.
