jet most lab rats have a very nice life. it's warm they have food and a lots of friends. compare that to your avarage city rat. city rars are sick, often crippelt, have bites, and are in a constand surviaval mode.
rats are wonderfull to work with, they are smart, reproduce fast and don't life to long.
so to summerise: treat your lab rats good, spare them unnessery pain and stress. treat them with dignety.
but don't worry to much about them, if you treat them right a lab rat can life a good rats life.
just never keep them alone for long times.
it's not evil to kill a rat. we all eat meat do we?
just spare them unessesery pain and suffering.
before making a study ask your self: how many rats do i really need. how can i minimize the suffering of my rats and how can i maximize their qualty of life.

happy rats make great lab partners. oh and undergradutes love to help you clean out the cages. they do it for free, social credits or minimum wage. many kids just love the animals
