>>12968322They weren’t numerous enough. I don’t think there were some grand conspiracy, just a hysterical lockdown in which global corporate hegemony has exclusively benefited (with the exception of a few airlines, who make most of their income transporting cargo anyway).
The corporations that matter age either been unaffected or have profited tremendously, big tech, chain stores, delivery companies etc and as profit driven entities they won’t want to exhaust this gold mine any time soon.
Epidemiologists, as human beings with the same flaws and proclivities as us, won’t want to ditch their new round spotlight too soon either. The longer this goes on, the more lucrative that book deal and the more numerous the speaking events.
TLDR people have an interest in this continuing, and us being locked in our houses reliant entirely on big business
