COVID has me thinking. What if COVID was a bioweapon?

Imagine with me for a sec that the coronavirus is a bioweapon and that the purpose of mRNA vaccines was to edit your DNA so you would be immune but everyone else would die from it. Does this seem realistic and logical to you insofar as it being possible in real life?

Also, would it be possible to be genetically immune to something as a population, that would just mog everyone else. For example, a virus that Mexicans are immune to that would just make everyone else sick. If it is possible, how do you make a population that is bat-like or snail-like in the regards that they are vectors of disease but do not themselves get infected by the diseases they carry?
