That's amazing.
I always had the suspicion that life couldn't all share one common ancestor and that if the conditions are right, life could have evolved in more than one spot on Earth.
Although it could also mean that we share a common RNA-based ancestor

It probably happened, even more than once if I had to guess. It's just silly to assume that any single one of those events wouldn't be superior in some way and outcompete others. If RNA was the basis for biological life then how unlikely would it be for DNA to evolve independently? These are interesting questions but aren't they meaningless when the genetic code is pretty much well conserved through all lifeforms?
