Thiel has been pretty much accusing Apple, Google, Facebook of essentially treason lately. I don't know who to believe or know what goes on with powerful people. Some are in bed with China, some are just playing all sides for their own interests, etc. I don't think they're all colluding together or anything though.
The US should hold them responsible for hypocrisy, though.

Not every powerful person has the same goals. Thiel is a libertarian who only cares about becoming immortal and not having to live in a degeneracy ridden world. Bill Gates on the other hand doesn't care about the consequences of his action, since he doesn't plan to live forever, and only wants to make a name for himself.

That's my point, they're all going for their own interests. It's not some billionaire conspiracy where they all get together and decide to take over the world or whatever.
So it's up to regulators in the US to ensure this matches with whatever values they want to have.
I'm making no claims as to what those should be, just saying I don't believe in some big conspiracy of billionaires. Obviously they have no qualms in compromising their morals or they wouldn't be in the positions they are in.

I shouldn't make the statement so generally. I just mean most people that have made it big seem to have to compromise on morals. I'm sure I don't have to say anything about Zuckerberg... and there's Bill Gates, how he treated Paul Allen for example I think is immoral, business practices aside.
