I'd hope most of us are actually aware of our limitations and pursue scientific, technological and philosophical studies because we WANT to. Not because we want to seem cool doing 'high-brow' things.

I may be wrong, but I remember reading a few studies where they said that intelligence is correlated to niche things that the majority find bizarre, boring, etc.. Like 4chan surfing for instance. A lot of people can't handle reading the word nigger without losing their mind as well. Point being: Most 4chan 'geniuses' are just wannabes.
