No, I'm not a physicist, I don't have anywhere near the math or overall education to delve into this myself or I wouldn't be asking.

We do have theoretical physics for how gravity works, it's called the theory of general relativity. The problem is that this thwory doesn't vibe perfectly with other theories like QFT. An open problem of physics is to come up with a unified theory of both the quantum world and gravity.

Am I right in assuming that the deeper they go into the quantum realm, the harder it is to create experiments to explore a theory? It seems like among other things, the smaller you go, the more chaotic things become.
