i consider them more like stealth infiltration aircraft. low nose and soft landing. more like a stealth helicopter?

they seem to be lazy fliers most of the time though, but they have great abilities to escape incoming threats through rapid manueuverabikity in short bursts

yeah these guys seem pretty impressive. good top speed but good hovering too. however i doubt they dominate in either respect

back to the discussion though. how about bumblebees? their flight was long believed to defy the laws of physics until it was realized how the nonlaminar flows their wing flaps induce create a novel lift mechanism

Thus far in entomology dipterans (mosquitoes and flies) take the cake of flying. Dragonflies (Odonata) despite being good fliers due to being old, their 4 wings are controlled separately which renders them outdated. They're old farts by flying standards and dipterans are far more efficient due to their haltere organs and one pair of wings.
