If exercise and nutrition are important for the brain, how come there are so many smart fat people?

Tons of pop-sci articles show up including from scientificamerican, webmd, health.harvard.edu and so on when you search on google "exercise brain" without the quotes proclaiming how important it is to exercise to maintain your brain's health and therefore brain function. If it's so important, how do you explain there being tons of obese smart people, such as Richard Arkwright, Hermann Goering, Anthony Young (Linus Tech Tips), Kim Dotcom, Gabe Newell et al.? It's almost like physical exercise and nutrition actually has at most a miniscule effect on intelligence and that all these articles who purport such importance are in bed with the fitness-nutritional-adventure-tourism-industrial complex.
