How certain is the heat-death of the universe? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely want eternal nothingness - but what I'm terrified of is coming back in some material form.
Could the universe somehow crunch back into a singularity? Is a big bounce possible? Could vacuum decay change everything so that the universe crunches? Really, what I'm asking is how certain is everyone about heat death?
