Which is the better career path after getting a master's? Is there any point in stretching life out for ~4 more years? Or should I just skip it and go straight to the next step.

that would require getting a job which is impossible. the only reason I am doing a MSc is that I couldn't get a job in summer. I am too dumb to get hired but I can get near perfect grades even if I spend the semester watching anime and playing video games. when I stop being a student I won't be able to leech off my parents anymore and will probably have to kms

the question is whether doing a PhD is distracting enough to make it worthwhile as opposed to just death

Keep trying, you can do it. Bolster your resume by contributing to open source projects and use your time wisely. Making a serious decision like killing yourself off not being able to get a job during a time where lots of people are unemployed due to covid is one of the worst things you can do.
Also stop watching anime.

In order for a PhD to be worth it you'd better get into a good school or be inspired enough to do research. Then you might get a postdoc, if you're really into research it might be worth it to experience it even if you don't get a job.

That might well be the case, but as outlined above my plans don't involve being a scientist - or anything else - after. I'm just wondering if a PhD is interesting enough to justify hanging on a for a few more years. There are probably quite a few PhD students on this board.
