How do I keep going

>studied pure chemistry at okay tier school
>Started to take it seriously
>Got 4.0 GPA
>Undergrad research
>Pushed to start publishing early
>Hopped on a 5 year PhD with good funding
A year into my PhD I started coming here a lot. /Sci/ has convinced me that nothing that's not pure math or at least physics is really worth doing because it's only the internal sensation of deep understanding that really counts. And it's not even biochemistry, so I can't get in on the bio boom.
>Tried to push my research into a more physics intensive area of chemistry
>Tried to self study
>Not enough foundation. Always left with more questions than insight and nobody around me to answer them
>Can no longer find any motivation to do my research
Should I really drop out of my PhD and restart everything?
I can't imagine starting a BSc in math/physics at 26
