I have nothing against it but people who shill it are almost always misguided and confuse generation 4 reactors with thorium reactors

thorium 232 - thorium 233 cycle is analogical to uranium 238 - plutonium 239 cycle
there are few technicalities that in grand scheme of things mean very little
there're nothing inherently safer or practical about thorium over uranium

Thorium is a solution in search of a problem.

If nuclear ever becomes so abundant that we're likely to consume the known uranium reserves in less than a thousand years, then thorium might be worth considering. Until then, it's a joke.

My issue with all forms of nuclear energy is it's not a real solution. We have not taken control of the environment. We found these retarded rocks in the ground that make water boil and we somehow have the nerve to say 'problem solved'. We need something better. Something we can do on our own

Won't happen in America until other countries develop it to the point that it's feasibility is undeniable. Even then good luck getting past the lobbyist that control nuclear fuel and weapons production. Can't make weapons grade material with the thorium cycle. Even if it's safer, even if you can idiot proof it from power outages and solar flares with the plug and drain system.
