>>12938290it is remarkable that the modern cosmological theories point to a big bang/creation event. it is worth dwelling on. but there are significant differences from what the various religious texts say. for example in christianity the bible starts out with god flying over some body of water. cosmology has nothing like a body of water and if you dig deeper it resolves the problem of what was “before” the big bang.
also, the creation story seems to imply that the earth (and all of creation) is about 6009-7000 years old. because there is lots of evidence that contradicts that idea, it requires that god went and set things up in our world in a very specific way that would trick us into believing it is actually about 13.8 billion years old. that would require god to be very deceptive and extremely careful in his deception. i don’t think that’s a good way to think about god or the universe
furthermore the book of genesis talks about the number of “days” required to build the universe. the timescales were not nearly on the order of “days” in cosmology. in fact the concept of a “day” rests on how our planet works within the solar system which has its own origin story
