Not exactly a pleurectomy but I have a friend who had half of his right lung removed because it kept spontaneously collapsing. He can still go for hikes and jog and stuff. He says it's just harder.

I had that done, same reason, only 10% though so my performance isn't really affected. It's real fun when they pull the drainage tube out. Hurts for about a year or two, then after that only when you stretch wrong.
