Is Betelgeuse about to pop? Where I live for my whole life it was the brightest star in Orion.
Lately Rigel has been the brightest star, while last night Betelgeuse was barely even visible in a perfectly-clear sky. I know it's supposed to blow and create a nebula every bit as bright as a full moon. Are we getting close to it?
