What makes this scenario any more outrageous than them simply being pollinated by the wind? You expect me to believe that flowers depend on the wind!?
Obviously they rely on the firm, steady hand of the Lord to shepherd over them. Anything else is just silly.

Hard to say, but whatever it was was almost certainly less effective than what they've got going on now otherwise they'd still be doing it.

I still don't see how you look at bees and see "design." I'm inclined to agree with OP that relying on another species to propagate is a sub-optimal solution. It's exactly the kind of thing I'd expect to arrive at by chance.

Btw pollen is basically glued to the insects face with many orchids.
The equivalent would be if trees mated by putting thier sperm into the curtain doorways of fake free coach purse shops and tricked human females into getting sperm glued to their face as they walked in through the curtain and then waiting for them to visit another fake free coach purse shop and deposit the sperm from the face into the new shop(tree)

but it isn't entirely dependant on that. flowers can pollinate themselves through wind etc., it's just that pollinators help them.

Thanks for the explanation. This seems like common sense to me. If you told be to build a car that runs on gas I could probably make it pretty efficient since I can specialize the machinery for one purpose.
If you told me the car also had to run on diesel and propane I'm forced into choosing machinery that works for any but is optimal for none.
It's not really evidence for design that one is better than many, it's a consequence of one being able to specialize more highly.

Whether it was conceived of and plopped into existence in it's preset form or underwent numerous microscopic changes over a long stretch of time is irrelevant.
The fact remains that a specific, targeted solution usually performs better than a general purpose one. Think targeted antibiotic vs. broad-spectrum. Tailoring the hardware for one purpose (whether by design or random mutation and selection) just works better.
