I don't know enough about it to give a definitive opinion on it. First off, healthcare should be paid by taxes and available to everyone, this would cover mental health as well. However, only essential things should be covered, as is currently the case from what I've noticed personally. I think there are genuine cases of gender dysphoria that would lead to suicide, and that should be covered. But proving that would probably require a lot of visits to a therapist. And I'm pretty sure the surgery as it is is not good enough. We just don't have the technology for it yet. Trans people existed allover the world for millenia. We have hormone therapy, and from what I know, there are no serious side effects if you're sure it's actual gender dysphoria, not some other underlying issue.
