>>12918903Most transgenic worm generation seems to have been done via microinjection or sometimes that gold bombardment thing, but it seems that not too much research has gone into viral transformation of worms (understandably, since microinjection is usually the easiest). I've only found one paper on a natural C. elegans virus and I'm not sure any researchers are really that interested in using viruses for transgenic creation. These would be my questions:
1. How far do you think we are from transgenic worm creation via (some) virus?
2. Do you think viral infection of ex utero egg cells is feasible (at least within the next 5 years)? I found a paper about viral infection of embryonated chicken eggs so I don't see why you couldn't do it with worm eggs, theoretically.
