What calculator does /sci/ use, and for what degree/area? I'm packing a TI-36X Pro, doing pure Math.

HP 15C, does everything you need. I do mathematics as well and rarely use a calculator but if I do this one is great to keep at hand. Anything more complicated and I'm working in sage or something anyway.
The display on this thing is the best, they don't make displays like it anymore.

I use a TI-85 doing aerospace engineering. I needed a graphing calculator for high school math in like 2009 so instead of spending $100 for a new one I went to a thrift store and bought a used one for like 6 bucks. Does everything I could ever need and has a cool vintage aesthetic that posers hate.

Any other calculator is for weaklings. A TI-30xa is the only calculator you ever need. It got me through college, I use the very same calculator for work everyday. Otherwise I use excel.

I still think the HP 15C is better. But you're on the right track, a calculator should be small and portable otherwise you'll never have it at hand and something else will be a better solution.

You don't need a calculator past precalculus. If you do, you don't need any of the ugly fucking calculators shown here. The anons that I mentioned before that use Mathematica and Python to graph shit and maybe solve the occasional integral are the exception
