I never bothered with learning about setting the Q point or whatever it's called. All the work around feedback and shit was pointless.
Every time I've used a BJT I didn't do a shred of math for it. Just chuck in a couple 1K resistors and you're golden.
Circuit worked just fine.
They make for nice highside switches.
