If an AI is going to torture people, it's going to do so for strategic, terrorist purposes.
It's like the Doomsday machine in Dr Strangelove, makes sense only if people know about the threat, and are scared.
Same thing with the El Chapo videos.
So, the AI would torture people until they submit, or until the war between it and humanity is over.
Doesn't make economic sense to torture anybody after the war.
And if the the AI will torture humans regardless of their past or present attitude towards it (urging human opponents to kill themselves quickly and painlessly), then what you say about AI right now doesn't matter.
And torturing simulations is silly, like imagine torturing MS Paint or the number 1488. Why would anybody care?
