It's not impossible it's just infinite. You can divide a number by 1 and get the number and that's it. If you divide by zero you get it broken up over and over

It doesn't change the truth value of it but it's in the objects that are created. There's no stopping iteration because you can divide further on creating another object.

3/26 creates an iteration process of 8 then 6 etc. With 0 it never stops

You could argue that it represents 0.000..., and thus leads to an infinitely large number, but you could just retort that it then represents an entire infinite set, the way 1 represents the entire infinite set of decimel numbers, thus still equalling 1 within a different context.

If I give you b and c you can determine what a is using the inverse of *. (ie a=c/b).

Suppose you are given the values b=0 and c=1 and told to find a. Obviously there is no solution for a in this system. If division by zero was possible the output would solve an unsolvable system. Hence a contradiction.

The expression 1/0 does not approach infinity. It is undefined in standard mathematics. The expression limx->0 1/0 = inf does not mean 1/0 approaches inf or in any way equals inf.

Multiplication is repeated addition.
2x4 = 2+2+2+2
2x1 = 2
2x0 = 2, because we never even get to start adding anything. If we start with 2 and we dont add anything then we are left with 2.

Division is repeated subtraction
8/2 = 8-2-2 =4
8/8 = 8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 = - lots
8/1 = 8 -1 = 7
8/0 = same as before. We dont even get to start subtracting anything from anything, but we did start with 8 so the answer must be 8

You can define a structure that allows for division by 0. But if you want to keep the usual field axioms, like distributivity etc. everything is fucked.

Suppose y = x/0.

Division is just multiplication by the multiplicative inverse. So we can write

y = x * 0^-1
y*0 = x * 0^-1 * 0
0 = x

Thus every number is congruent to 0. and our structure is completely useless as there is only one entity.

If you abandon some of the field axioms and treat division as an actual binary operator, you can get something that doesn't collapse. That's what's done in Wheel Theory.

Because there is no sensible way to define putting a quantity into 0 groups. x divided by y asks "if x is split into y groups how much is in each group". When 0 is the dividend we can say that if 0 is put into y groups, there is 0 in each group. If 0 is the divisor, we cannot say what it would look like to put x into 0 groups. It can't be x because that's x in 1 group. It can't be 0 because 0 is 1 group of 0.
